A man in Sri Lanka has been sentenced to 21 days in jail for fuel hoarding.
Jail for hoarding four liters of petrol
The whole matter is of North Western Sri Lanka. Here in a city, a person has been sentenced to 21 days for hoarding four liters of petrol. After the joint attack by America and Israel, Sri Lanka immediately banned the hoarding of fuel. Acting in this connection, 48-year-old Lasantha Kumara Balasuriya, resident of Nikaweratiya city of North Western Province, confessed to his crime during the court hearing on Thursday.
What did the accused say to the court?
Lasantha told the court that he was going to use the fuel he had collected to clean the surroundings for the annual religious ritual of his late parents. The name of the accused is Balasuriya. The judge sentenced him to 21 days for hoarding four liters of petrol. An additional fine of 1500 Sri Lankan rupees was imposed on him.
Sri Lankan government is strict regarding fuel
The Sri Lankan government started the QR code based rationing system of fuel on March 15. According to the Energy Ministry, under this system, cars are allowed to take 15 liters every week, buses 60 liters every week.
