PM Modi will reach Somnath to participate in ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’, will participate in chanting Omkar Mantra.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Somnath in Gujarat on Saturday (January 10, 2026) evening to participate in the celebrations organized under ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’. This temple town has been decorated for these celebrations under the Somnath Swabhiman festival and many programs are being organized there as celebrations from Wednesday (January 7, 2026) to Sunday (January 11, 2026).

Prime Minister Modi said in a post on social media platform In this context, I will have the privilege of participating in the divine chanting of Omkar Mantra in Somnath temple tomorrow (Saturday) at around 8 pm.

He said, ‘The next day at around 9:45 am, after participating in the Shaurya Yatra dedicated to the countless brave sons of Mother India, I will have darshan and offer prayers at the temple. After this, I will also get an opportunity to participate in a public program here. A grand drone show will also be organized on Saturday (January 10) night as part of the celebrations.

PMO issued statement in this matter

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement on Friday (January 9, 2026) saying, ‘This festival is being organized in the memory of those citizens of India who sacrificed their lives to protect the Somnath Temple and have been influencing the cultural consciousness of future generations. This program is being organized on the completion of 1,000 years of the attack on Somnath temple of Mahmud of Ghazni.

The statement said, ‘Despite several attempts to destroy the Somnath temple over the past centuries, today the temple stands as a powerful symbol of faith and national pride, which has been possible due to the collective determination and efforts to restore it to its ancient glory.’

75 years of historical renovation of the temple completed in 2026

According to the statement, after independence, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel made an effort to renovate the temple. One of the most significant achievements of the temple’s restoration journey was achieved in 1951, when the doors of the restored Somnath temple were formally opened to devotees in the presence of the then President Rajendra Prasad.

It has been said that with the completion of 75 years of this historical renovation in 2026, the importance of Somnath Swabhiman festival has increased even more. It has been said that hundreds of saints from across the country will participate in the Somnath Swabhiman festival and Omkar Mantra will be chanted for 72 hours continuously in the temple premises.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate in Shaurya Yatra

The Prime Minister will participate in the Shaurya Yatra on Sunday (January 11, 2026) morning, which will be organized to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting the Somnath Temple. According to officials, a symbolic procession of 108 horses will be taken out in the Shaurya Yatra, which will symbolize bravery and sacrifice.

After this, Modi will offer prayers in the temple. Then he will participate in a public program organized on the occasion of Somnath Swabhiman festival. Somnath is located in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat, which is more than 400 kilometers from Ahmedabad.
