PM Modi’s peace initiative in Middle East, called these world leaders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to the top leaders of France, Jordan, Oman, Malaysia and Qatar and discussed the situation in West Asia with them. Expressing concern over the changing situation in West Asia, PM Modi expressed the need to reduce conflict in the region.

In separate telephonic conversations with these leaders, Prime Minister Modi said that attacks on energy targets in West Asia are condemnable and can increase unnecessary tension. PM Modi stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy for early restoration of peace, security and stability in the Middle East.

Modi wishes Eid to King of Jordan and expresses concern over situation in West Asia

Modi said in a post on X, ‘I wished my brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Eid on the phone. We expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in West Asia and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace, security and stability in the region. Attacks on energy infrastructure in West Asia are condemnable and could escalate unnecessary tensions. India and Jordan are committed to uninterrupted transit of goods and energy. We wholeheartedly appreciate Jordan’s efforts in the safe return of Indians stranded in the area.

PM Modi also talked to the President of France

PM Modi posted about his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. He wrote, ‘I spoke with my dear friend President Emmanuel Macron about the situation in West Asia and the urgent need to reduce tensions as well as return to dialogue and diplomacy. We look forward to continuing our close coordination to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The Prime Minister also said that he had ‘a fruitful conversation with his brother Sultan Haitam bin Tariq and wished the people of Oman a happy Eid.’ We agreed on the need to give priority to dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions (in the region) and then restore peace and stability.

What did PM Modi say about Oman?

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and appreciated the efforts made to ensure the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian citizens. He said, ‘India and Oman are committed to safe and uninterrupted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.’

In his conversation with Ibrahim, Modi extended warm greetings to his Malaysian counterpart and the people of Malaysia on Eid. He said, ‘We also discussed the extremely worrying situation in West Asia and reiterated our shared commitment to reduce tensions and early restoration of peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.’

PM Modi spoke to the Emir of Qatar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and wished him Eid. PM Modi wrote on Twitter, ‘I reiterate that we stand in solidarity with Qatar and strongly condemn the attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure. I expressed my gratitude for the care and support given to the Indian community and wished for peace and stability in the region. We are in favor of safe and uninterrupted navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

US-Israel attacked Iran on 28 February

Modi held talks with the Sultan of Oman for the second time since the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28 and Iran responded by attacking US military bases in several Gulf countries. Since the conflict began, Prime Minister Modi has also spoken to many world leaders including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel and Iran.
