A joint team of GHMC task force and police raided ‘A1 Fresh Chicken Shop’ in Parasigutta area of ​​the state on Tuesday (March 17, 2026). During inspection, it was found that the chicken which was kept in the shop for several days was being sold to the customers like normal goods and the meat was completely unfit for consumption.
Officials seized about 800 kg of rotten chicken. Along with selling this spoiled meat directly to customers, it was also being supplied to wine shops, bars and restaurants in the area. The shop was running on an expired license since January. The police registered a case against the shop owner Shakeel and took him into custody, but this is not an isolated case.
Operation conducted at many places in Hyderabad in two weeks
What came to light in the GHMC raids in different areas of Hyderabad in the last two weeks is heart-wrenching. On March 10, 300 kg of rotten goat and sheep meat was seized in Mangalhat. 2,500 kg of adulterated curd was seized in a raid on a dairy unit in Amberpet. 1,090 kg chemically treated ginger-garlic paste was seized in Habib Nagar. In the last two months, GHMC’s campaign has also led to several arrests in cases of fake ghee, substandard dairy products and adulterated tea powder.
GHMC appeals to citizens
It is the month of Ramzan, the heart trembles just thinking about what is happening in the kitchen from where the dishes that are decorated on the Iftar table are coming. GHMC has appealed to citizens to avoid purchasing meat and food items from unauthorized and unhygienic establishments and immediately report any information about adulteration to the authorities. Poison is being mixed in the plate of Hyderabad and if it was not for this campaign of the administration, perhaps we would never have known.
