After the death of Usman Hadi, Bangladesh is once again on fire. After a year, violence against minorities has increased again in many districts including Dhaka. Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu youth working in a factory in Mymensingh city, was beaten to death by a mob and his body was set on fire. Expressing concern over this incident, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said that the Indian government should take cognizance of the increasing violence against minorities there and should strongly raise this issue with the Bangladeshi government.

Priyanka Gandhi posted on X and wrote, ‘The news of the brutal murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das by the mob in Bangladesh is extremely worrying. In any civilized society, discrimination, violence and murder on the basis of religion, caste, identity etc. are crimes against humanity. He said that the Indian government should take cognizance of the increasing violence against Hindu, Christian and Buddhist minorities in the neighboring country and should strongly raise the issue of their security with the Bangladesh government.
The culprits will not be spared: Bangladesh government
In a statement on Friday (19 December 2025), the interim government strongly condemned the lynching of a person from the Hindu community in Mymensingh city, saying that there is no place for such violence in the new Bangladesh. The government said, ‘The culprits of this heinous crime will not be spared.’ Police said that Das was first beaten by a mob outside the factory on the night of December 18 on blasphemy charges and then hanged from a tree and set on fire.
Tension spread in Bangladesh after the murder of Hindu youth
According to the Bangla Tribune report, police said, ‘After the incident, the angry mob left the body of the deceased on the side of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and set it on fire. Due to this there was traffic jam on both sides of the highway. Police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College for post-mortem. This incident spread tension in the area and the police is trying to bring the situation under control.
The interim government of Bangladesh said, ‘We strongly condemn all acts of violence, intimidation, arson and destruction of property. At this critical time, we call on every citizen to remember Osman Hadi by rejecting violence, incitement and hatred.
