Congress leader N Subramanian was questioned by the police on Monday (December 29, 2025) in connection with allegedly sharing a photo on social media in which Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is shown with Sabarimala gold case accused Unnikrishnan Potti. Earlier, on Saturday, the police was embroiled in controversy after Subramanian, a member of the political affairs committee of the state unit of Congress, was detained. Following protests, he was released after being issued a notice to appear for questioning.
Speaking to reporters, Subramanian said that he and the person handling his social media accounts were interrogated for more than an hour by the Chevayur police at the police station this morning. He reiterated that he has not posted any artificial intelligence created picture of the Chief Minister and Unnikrishnan Potti. According to him, the picture he shared was taken from a video of the Chief Minister which is available with the Public Relations Department of the state government.
He said, ‘They should release the video. Otherwise, I will apply under RTI Act in PRD to get it. Subramanian claimed that the same photo shared by him is still present on the social media accounts of other people and no case has been registered against him. He alleged, ‘The state government should not think that through such acts it can hide the Sabarimala gold theft case.’
When asked about the removal of one of the three photographs posted, Subramanian said that he did not like that particular photograph. Meanwhile, the Chevayur police have registered a case against Subramanian under Section 192 of the Indian Justice Code, relating to deliberate provocation with intent to cause riot, and Section 120(O) of the Kerala Police Act for causing nuisance through communication.
