Congress will organize a conference to discuss
Patwari said, ‘We wanted to organize a conference of intellectuals, environmentalists and municipal councilors from across the state in the presence of Gandhi to positively discuss the solution to the problem of contaminated drinking water, but the administration did not allow us to organize this event. Therefore, we will organize this conference later. Patwari claimed that 70 percent of the water in the entire state is not potable due to contamination. The state Congress president termed contaminated drinking water as ‘slow poison’ and claimed that it is causing serious damage to people’s kidneys and other organs.
State government presented report
Amidst contradictory claims regarding the death toll, the state government, in its status report presented to the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday, mentioned the death of seven people, including a five-month-old child, during the vomiting-diarrhea outbreak in Bhagirathpura. Meanwhile, the ‘death audit’ report conducted by a committee of the city-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College has indicated that the deaths of 15 people from Bhagirathpura may be linked to this outbreak in some way or the other.
