Rape case related to actor Ashish Kapoor sent to sessions court, next hearing will be on January 22

Tis Hazari Court has sent the alleged rape case involving actor Ashish Kapoor to the Sessions Court for further hearing. At present all three accused in this case are on bail. On August 11, the victim had filed a complaint against two people including actor Ashish Kapoor.

Chargesheet was filed in November
On the basis of the complaint of the victim, on August 11, 2025, the Civil Lines police station had registered an FIR against actors Ashish Kapoor, Kapil Gupta and Ritu Gupta under rape, gang rape, assault and other serious sections. After investigating the case, Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in November 2025 under Section 64(1) of the Indian Justice Code i.e. rape.

Court gave important order
After completion of the investigation of the charge sheet filed by Delhi Police and all the documents related to it, Judicial Magistrate First Kartik Taparia ordered to send this case to the Sessions Court. The judge of the court said that the crime falling under Section 64 (1) BNS can be heard exclusively by the Sessions Court. On this basis, the case has been handed over to the Sessions Court for trial. The court has directed Ahlmad to completely prepare the case file and present it before the District and Sessions Judge on January 22, 2026 at 2 pm. Besides, information about this order has also been given to the Public Prosecutor.

Important questions were raised on the investigation during the hearing
Let us tell you that while granting bail to Ashish Kapoor on September 10, 2025, the court had also pointed out many flaws in the police investigation. The court had said that even during remand, no concrete efforts were made to recover the mobile phone. Nor was the search conducted as per law and there is no evidence on record to prove that the accused did not cooperate in the investigation.
