Andhra Pradesh News: The incident of rats biting students in another government hostel in Andhra Pradesh has created a stir. The incident took place at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in A. Kondur mandal center of NTR district. On Wednesday (February 11) night, the girl students were sleeping in the hostel when they were attacked by rats that came in through the windows. A total of 12 girls, including Kavuri Kalavati, Malladi Shyamala, Chimta Lakshmiprasanna, V. Sneha, M. Rajini, studying in class seven, were bitten by rats.
To prevent this from coming out, KGBV officers first tried to keep it a secret. However, the matter came to light on Thursday morning when the girls, who were bitten by rats, were taken to the local Primary Health Center (PHC) for treatment. On receiving information MRO N. Arvind, MPDO B. Srinivas Rao, GCDO Visva Bharati immediately visited Kasfurba Gandhi School, Hostel and reviewed the situation. Along with taking statements from the students, steps were taken to ensure better medical treatment for them.
Hostel negligence exposed due to rat attack
Parents are alleging that rats biting the students sleeping in the hostel shows the lack of facilities in KGBV and the negligence of the staff. Students say that rats came inside because the hostel windows were not in good condition. The post of ANM is vacant here for the last one year to provide treatment to students in case of emergency. This means there is no opportunity to provide immediate treatment if students suddenly fall ill, with parents of students expressing serious concern. He reminded that last year also rats had come into the hostel in a similar manner.
Health Minister gave instructions to increase treatment and security
AP Health Minister Satyakumar reacted to this incident. He spoke to the doctors treating the girls and learned details of the treatment. He directed the officials to provide better medical treatment to the students. He said that steps should be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents in government hostels.
