Agastya Nanda’s film ‘Ikkis’ was going to be released this Christmas but suddenly the film’s producer Dinesh Vijan postponed the release date of the film. Now this film will be released on January 1, 2026. This can be called a wise move because seeing the way ‘Dhurandhar’ is wreaking havoc at the box office, it seems that the theater owners will keep it as a prime shows film.
Obviously this could have caused loss to ‘Ikkis’ and at the same time the earnings of ‘Dhurandhar’ would also have been affected. But now this will not happen i.e. both the films are going to benefit.
Maddock’s people have already taken such wise steps
Maddock Film Production House has not done this for the first time. Even before this, the makers took such steps twice and both times their step got benefited and this benefit was not only given to the production house’s film but also to the opposite film.
- For the first time in the year 2017, as soon as the release date of ‘Bahubali 2’ was revealed, the release date of ‘Hindi Medium’ was postponed. ‘Baahubali 2’ had to go, so it went and ‘Hindi Medium’ was also able to earn without any competition.
- For the second time, by extending the release date of Vicky Kaushal’s film ‘Chhaava’, its clash with ‘Pushpa 2’ was prevented. The whole world knows what was the box office collection of both the films. Both achieved blockbuster status and became among the biggest films of Indian cinema till date.
- Now for the third time, Dinesh Vijan again did this amazing thing and shifted the release date of ‘Ikkis’ to 1st January. The pace of ‘Dhurandhar’ does not seem to be slowing down, while on the other hand, the world’s biggest film ‘Avatar Fire and Ash’ is also going to be released in India on 19th December.
Film critic Taran Adarsh calls it a sensible move and also points out its commercial benefits. He has said that the benefit of this will be that now ‘Ikkis’ with its extended release date will become a part of the shows in prime theatres, which is going to be beneficial for the film at the box office.
