The United Kingdom i.e. UK has banned oil trading tycoon Murtaza Lakhani. The UK government believes that Lakhani’s companies are working in Russia’s energy sector. It is believed that the UK and the European Union want to put strategic pressure on Russia on this decision.
In a statement issued by the UK government, it has been said that Lakhani is a Pakistani businessman. He is banned from the country for his alleged role in the Russian energy sector. He often used to mention London as his base.
Many business companies of Lakhani have been included in the ban decision. These include many companies including Mercantile and Maritime Group. This step has been taken under the new restrictive law issued by the European Union.
Lakhani said – looking for legal way
Here, Lakhani has issued a written statement regarding the entire matter. In this he has denied all the allegations. He has said that he does not violate any applicable sanctions laws, nor does he own any Shodo fleet of vessels trading in Russian petroleum products.
Lakhani has said that he is exploring legal avenues to defend, refute and appeal the EU and UK decision.
America is also planning to target Russia’s energy sector

Lakhani’s UAE firms banned

Some firms of UAE have also been targeted in the sanctions imposed by the UK. This includes Tejarinaft FZCO, Fossil Trading FZCO, Amur II FZCO.
