There was a stir in Jammu on Sunday afternoon (January 12, 2026) after a satellite phone was detected in Kanachak sector adjacent to the international border with Pakistan. As soon as information about this incident was received, the security forces launched a joint search operation in the area.
Security forces alert as satellite phone detected
Amidst the dense fog, there was a panic in Kanachak sector at 3.30 pm when Indian security forces came to know that a satellite phone had been switched on in Kanachak sector. As soon as the satellite phone was detected in the area, the security forces became alert and Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Indian Army conducted a joint search operation in the location where the satellite phone was detected as well as in its surrounding areas.
JKP, CRPF and Army conducted joint search operation
During this operation, the area adjacent to the border was searched and an intensive search operation was conducted here. It is noteworthy that the security forces have already issued an alert that Pakistan-backed terrorists can infiltrate from the international border under the cover of dense fog.
Terrorists try to infiltrate through IB
This security input also becomes necessary because with the snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the traditional routes of infiltration on the Line of Control (LOC) have been closed. After the closure of these infiltration routes, Pakistan-backed terrorists now turn to the International Border (IB) for infiltration.
