Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has imposed disclosure rules for all regulated entities and their agents on social media platforms. As per the new rules, they will have to clearly display their registered name and SEBI registration number on their handle and at the beginning of every content related to securities market. A circular issued today said that this step is part of SEBI’s ‘Ease of Doing Investment’ (EoDI) initiative. It aims to help investors clearly differentiate between content published by SEBI-regulated entities and content circulated by unregistered or unauthorized persons.
