Supreme Court lawyers have shown solidarity towards Deepak Kumar of Uttarakhand and have taken membership of his gym by paying Rs 10,000. A lawyer of the Supreme Court has given this information on the condition of anonymity. This is the same Deepak Kumar, who came into limelight after revealing his name as Mohammad Deepak.
There is Deepak Kumar’s ‘Hulk’ gym in Kotdwar, in which once more than 150 people used to come to the gym, but after this controversy, the number of members in the gym has reduced. After a dispute over the name of a shop, his gym is now almost empty and now only a few regular members come here for the gym.
On the condition of anonymity, a lawyer said that about 12 senior advocates of the Supreme Court have taken membership of the gym for one year by paying a fee of Rs 10,000. The lawyer said membership cards bearing the name of the original contributor will be provided to local gym enthusiasts who are unable to pay the fees.
The lawyer said that Deepak has also been offered free legal representation by some other judges. A lawyer said, ‘The legal community expresses solidarity with Deepak.’
Gym owner Deepak Kumar had told news agency PTI regarding the controversy that his business came to a complete halt after he faced Bajrang Dal workers protesting against a clothing shop named Baba and identified himself as Mohammad Deepak.
He said that due to the ongoing tension over the incident, his employment became a casualty of this dispute. Bajrang Dal workers protested outside a clothing shop named Baba on Patel Marg in Kotdwar on January 26 and pressured its 70-year-old owner Vakil Ahmed to change the name of the shop.
During the protest, a clash broke out between Bajrang Dal members, lawyer Ahmed and his son’s friend Deepak Kumar, after which Deepak Kumar, identifying himself as Mohammed Deepak, forced the protesters to retreat.
