Sensex Today, Stock Market 22 January: Domestic stock market major indices Sensex and Nifty registered a rise in early trading on Thursday. Maintaining this momentum in the second part of the day, the market closed the trading on the green mark. The market gained momentum due to gains in shares of public sector banks and automotive companies on improving global sentiment and boosted investor morale after easing of geopolitical trade tensions.

In fact, BSE Sensex rose 774.04 points or 0.94 percent to 82,683.67 points in early trade while NSE Nifty rose 233.85 points or 0.93 percent to 25,391.35 points. At the same time, in the second part of the day, the Sensex rose by more than 300 points and closed above 82,200. During the day, it had climbed to 82,750. Nifty increased by more than 130 points and closed at the level above 25,200.

Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, shares of Tata Steel, Adani Ports, Asian Paints, Bharat Electronics Limited, State Bank of India, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal, Trent, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Finserv were the biggest gainers. On the other hand, ICICI Bank shares registered a slight decline.

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers on Wednesday and sold shares worth a net Rs 1,787.66 crore. Whereas domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 4,520.47 crore.
