Shahbaz Sharif reached Saudi Arabia running on the invitation of Crown Prince, what issues were discussed amid Iranian attacks

Amidst the US-Israel and Iran war, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif went to Saudi Arabia and met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. During this meeting, Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were also present.

Earlier, on March 7, after Iran’s attack on American bases located in Saudi Arabia, Asim Munir had met Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman, during which Saudi Arabia had asked Pakistan for help in the security of Saudi under the defense agreement.

What issues were discussed
During the meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Mohammed bin Salman, regional security including the protection of the two holy mosques was discussed. During this period, Shahbaz Sharif praised the Saudi Crown Prince for his long-term support to Pakistan. Pakistani PM expressed Pakistan’s full solidarity and support towards Saudi Arabia.

The two leaders held in-depth discussions on recent developments in the region and agreed to work together for regional peace and stability. Shehbaz Sharif assured that Pakistan will always stand firmly with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and strive to fulfill the mutual desire of both countries for peace in the region.

Why is Pakistan not able to support
Last year, a defense agreement was signed between the two countries, in which it was decided that if any one country is attacked, both will be considered and will fight together. In such a situation, when one Islamic country Iran is attacking another Muslim country Saudi Arabia, then Pakistan is finding it difficult to understand whose support it should support. The big problem for Pakistan is that they get funds from Saudi Arabia, whereas their neighboring country is Iran.
