A 45-year-old mechanic was allegedly beaten to death in front of children in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden area on Sunday night. He had refused to give Rs 50,000 demanded by the accused. The deceased has been identified as Rashid Pasha. According to the police, at around 9 pm, three people attacked him with bats and bamboo sticks near Bada Makan Road, due to which he suffered serious injuries.
What has come up in the investigation?
Preliminary investigation revealed that Pasha was a jeep mechanic and was recently getting his new shop constructed in the same area. On Sunday (15th March) he had got the molding work done for the shop. It is being told that the accused, after seeing the construction work, demanded Rs 50,000 from him in the name of ‘Maamul’ (protection money). Pasha refused to pay the money, after which an argument broke out between the two parties.
Attacked with bat and sticks
According to the police, there was a dispute regarding this matter for the first time in the morning. The accused returned again at night and demanded money again. When Pasha refused, they attacked him with bats and bamboo sticks and fled from the spot. This merciless attack took place in front of Pasha’s two young children, who were present with him at that time. Local people took the seriously injured Pasha to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead.
The body was sent for postmortem
Pasha’s body has been sent to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. A case of murder has been registered at Wilson Garden Police Station and the search for the accused is ongoing. After this incident, an atmosphere of tension was created in the area. In view of the situation, a unit of KSRP (Karnataka State Reserve Police) has been deployed as a precautionary measure. Central Division DCP Akshay Machindra visited the spot and said that the medico-legal case report has been received from the hospital.
