Mention of Narasimha Rao, Manmohan Singh in the analysis

In an X Post thread, Civitas Sameer said, ‘Congress MP Shashi Tharoor seems to be largely associated with the tendency and thinking of the Congress of the 1990s, which was focused on urban development, based on institutional structure and favorable to reforms.’ The user argued, ‘These ideas emerged at a time when India was going through a period of economic transition and at that time an elite-led rule in India was not a virtue, but a historical circumstance.’

The names of former Congress Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, Manmohan Singh, who was Finance during his tenure, former Minister SM Krishna and former Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia were taken in the analysis. The post said, ‘The politics of these leaders was based on policies, institutions and administrative efficiency, and not on mass movements or cultural roots.’

This analysis claimed that such leaders who give importance to urban technology are marginalized in Congress today and in the last few years, they have received more recognition and respect from the right-wing ideology. This signal is mainly being considered towards the ruling BJP at the Center and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
