Veteran Congress leader and Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor has raised questions regarding the Prime Minister’s Jan Vikas Yojana. Tharoor posted on social media platform X on Saturday (December 20, 2025) asking several questions regarding the funds given to Kerala under PMJVK.
Tagging Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Shashi Tharoor wrote that there was no time to discuss the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Yojana during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, but it is shocking that the Minority Affairs Minister revealed in a written reply to the House that no funds have been allocated to Kerala under PMJVK from 2021.

‘Many government schools are in a pitiful condition’
Shashi Tharoor raised the question that whereas a list of 34 minority dominated areas of the state has been given in it. Can the government explain the reason for this? He further wrote that many government schools in these areas are in a pitiful condition, the roofs are leaking and the infrastructure is also dilapidated. He asked questions to the Kerala government and the Central government, asking whether the state government failed to submit any proposal under the PMJVK scheme, or did the Government of India reject all the proposals given by Kerala? A state with such a large minority population should get better facilities from a scheme designed for the benefit of minorities, right?
Center protested against changing the name of MNREGA
Shashi Tharoor has been seen in support of Congress for some days. Recently, the Central Government presented the amendment bill regarding the MNREGA scheme in the Lok Sabha, when Shashi Tharoor supported the Congress and opposed the Central Government for changing the name of the MNREGA scheme. Tharoor posted on X that the MNREGA scheme has been one of the great development stories of India. Abolishing it is a retrograde step which the central government should take back.
