Earlier there were 6 crore 41 lakh 14 thousand 587 voters in Tamil Nadu. Now there are 5 crore 43 lakh 76 thousand 755 voters. That means 97,37,832 votes have been deducted. If seen in percentage, 15.19% votes have been deducted.
If we talk about Gujarat, earlier there were 5 crore 08 lakh, 43 thousand 436 voters here. Now according to the SIR draft, there are 4 crore 34 lakh 70 thousand 109 voters. 73 lakh 73 thousand 327 votes have been deducted. That means approximately 14.50% votes have been deducted.
Before SIR, there were 7 crore 66 lakh, 37 thousand 529 voters in Bengal. Now there are 7 crore 8 lakh 16 thousand 630 voters. That means names of about 7.60 percent voters have been removed. Names of 69 lakh voters were removed from the SIR conducted in Bihar before the elections.
How many votes were removed in Rajasthan?
Earlier there were 5 crore 46 lakh 56 thousand 215 voters in Rajasthan. After SIR there are 5 crore 4 lakh 71 thousand 396 voters. That means more than 41 lakh votes were removed. If seen in percentage, 7.66 percent names were removed from the list.
How many votes were removed in Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Goa?
Earlier there were 57 thousand 813 voters in Lakshadweep. Now there are 56 thousand 384 voters. That means 1429 votes (2.24 percent) have been removed. Earlier there were 11 lakh 85 thousand 34 voters in Goa. Now there are 10 lakh 84 thousand 992 voters. That means about one lakh votes (8.44 percent) have been removed. Talking about Puducherry, earlier there were 10 lakh 21 thousand 578 voters here. Now there are 9 lakh 18 thousand 111 voters. That means 1 lakh 3 thousand votes (10.13 percent) have been removed.
The Election Commission says that the purpose of SIR is to correct the voter list. There should be no illegal voters in the list and no valid voters should be deprived of voting. At the same time, opposition parties are raising questions on this process and say that the names of their voters are being removed.
