Chandra Kumar Bose, grandson of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who appeared in the hearing related to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list in West Bengal, said on Monday that this process is important but is not being done properly. Bose had contested the 2016 assembly elections and 2019 Lok Sabha elections on BJP ticket. He termed the special intensive revision of voter list as harassment and claimed that it lacks clarity.
People are being harassed in the name of SIR: Chandrakumar Bose
Bose said he, his wife and daughter appeared for the hearing on January 16 while his two sons, who are abroad, attended the hearing. He had authorized him to appear on his behalf. He told news agency PTI, ‘SIR is important, but the way it is being conducted is not appropriate. Common people are being harassed in the name of SIR. I don’t see any reason for organizing it in such a hurry.
‘Called us for hearing on submission of necessary documents’
Bose claimed that he and his family members had submitted all the required documents along with their census forms. He alleged, ‘Still we were called for hearing. The reason for this was very shocking, because polling officials said that there was a problem in linking the data. I am not complaining because I was called for SIR, but because the entire process is disorganized and without any clarity.
Bose claimed, ‘This is nothing but sheer oppression. He asked, ‘First they said that my name was not found in the voter list of 2002 and later they found my name. Now after submitting the form with all valid documents, they are claiming that there was a problem in linking. If it is a technical problem, then who is responsible for it?
