Sonia Gandhi suddenly admitted to Delhi hospital, doctors gave big health update

The health of senior Congress leader and parliamentary party president Sonia Gandhi is now completely stable. He was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi at around 10 pm on 5 January 2026. Hospital President Dr. Ajay Swaroop told that Sonia Gandhi was having some trouble in breathing.

Bad effect of cold and pollution on Sonia Gandhi

After examination by the doctors of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, it was found that Sonia’s health had deteriorated due to the combined effect of cold and pollution in Delhi. Sonia Gandhi’s bronchial asthma had increased slightly. As a precautionary measure, he was kept in the hospital so that he could be completely monitored and given proper treatment.

Sonia Gandhi has been struggling with health related problems for the last several years. She has been going to the hospital from time to time for regular checkups and treatment.

Treatment going on in Sir Gangaram Hospital

At present Sonia Gandhi is being given antibiotics and other essential medicines. Doctors have said that the treatment is having a very good effect on him. His condition is now absolutely stable and he is out of danger. Doctors say that his condition is continuously improving. If all goes well, he can be discharged from the hospital in a day or two. Only the treating doctor will take this final decision.

His health suddenly deteriorated on June 7 also.

Earlier, on June 15, 2025, Sonia was admitted to the Surgical Gastroenterology Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital due to stomach problem. She was admitted for 3 to 4 days. Sonia’s health suddenly deteriorated on June 7 also. Then she had gone to spend holidays with Priyanka Gandhi at her house in Shimla. But due to ill health, she returned to Delhi the next day. He had a medical checkup done at Sir Gangaram Hospital on June 9.
