Tension is increasing in the Middle East due to America and Israel’s attacks on Iran. The Indian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on this. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said that the Government of India is constantly monitoring the rapidly changing situation in West Asia and the Gulf region, especially keeping in mind the Indian citizens who are stuck there during transit or during short-term visits.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that all Indian citizens present in the area are advised to follow the guidelines of local authorities as well as advisories being issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate at their location. All Embassies and Consulates of India in these countries have issued detailed advisories and set up 24×7 helplines to assist in resolving concerns related to the current situation.

After partial opening of airspace in many countries in the last few days, Indian and foreign airlines have been operating flights, including non-scheduled flights, to enable the return of Indian passengers stranded in transit or on short-term trips.
How many Indians have returned so far in March?
The Ministry of External Affairs said that between March 1 and 7, 2026, so far more than 52,000 Indians have returned safely to India from the Gulf region through these flights, out of which 32,107 passengers have traveled by Indian Airlines. More flights are being planned in the coming days. In countries where commercial flight operations are not available, Indian citizens are advised to contact the relevant Indian Embassy or Consulate for information and advice on nearest available flights.
He further said that the safety and welfare of Indian citizens living abroad is the top priority of the Government of India. The government is in constant touch with the governments of various countries in the region, so that all possible assistance can be provided to the needy people.
