In the new beta version, when the user opens the chat tab, status updates of the contacts with whom he frequently talks can be seen at the top. Below this, the latest statuses of other people can also be seen in a horizontal bar.
Users will be able to swipe them just like they do now in the status section. If you have muted or hidden the status of any contact, then its update will not be visible here also. That means your privacy settings will work the same as before.
Testing is still going on
The thing to note is that this feature is not completely ready yet. Currently it is available only for Android beta users and that too on a special version. Most normal users will not notice any change right now.
The company can make changes in the design and layout during testing. If everything goes well then it can be released for all users in the coming time.
