Stock Market Today: The last trading session of the week brought a huge fall for stock market investors. The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty opened in the red from the beginning of the day’s trading and closed down after the day’s trading. The Sensex closed at 81,287.19, down 961 points or 1.17 per cent. While Nifty also fell 317.90 points or 1.25 percent and closed at 25,178 points.
How was the market pace on Friday?
On Friday, the market started with a decline and after some time the Sensex slipped below the important level of 82,000. Nifty 50 also adopted the same stance. Interestingly, recovery continued in IT stocks, but pressure was clearly visible in other sectors.

All-round selling was seen in banking, financials, auto, metal, realty and chemical stocks. Defensive sectors also did not provide much support, while selective buying was seen in IT and media stocks. Overall, the market mood remains cautious.
