Stranded Indians will return from Iran soon, Foreign Ministry starts preparations, know latest updates

Amidst the changing political situation in Iran, India has started preparations to evacuate its citizens from there. The Ministry of External Affairs will help any Indian who wants to return from there. Indian officials are constantly reviewing the situation after the threat given by US President Donald Trump to Iran.

The Indian Embassy in Iran has started collecting information about Indian students stranded in different parts of the country. Problems are also being faced due to internet shutdown in many areas. Indian Foreign Ministry has issued advisory twice in the last 10 days regarding Iran.

India asked to avoid traveling to Iran

India on Wednesday asked all its citizens living in Iran to leave that country through available means and avoid traveling there. The Indian Embassy in Iran issued a new advisory asking Indian citizens including students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists present there to leave the country using available means of transport, including commercial flights, in view of the changing situation. After this, the foreign ministers of India and Iran talked on the phone.

Protests began in Tehran last month after the Iranian currency rial fell to a record low. The protests have since spread to all 31 provinces and have transformed from a movement against the economic crisis to a demand for political change. In the previous advisory issued on January 5, 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs had urged Indian citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran. Also, Indian citizens and people of Indian origin living in Iran were asked to exercise caution and avoid going to the protest areas.

Iran warned Trump

The latest situation in Iran is worrying. Amidst the fear of military action from America, Iran has now warned President Donald Trump through a picture. Meanwhile, in the tense situation, Britain has closed its embassy in Tehran for some time and along with this Britain has called back all its diplomatic staff.

Iran showed a photo of the deadly attack on Trump in Pennsylvania in 2024, in which an attempt was made to kill him at a campaign rally. Also warned, this time the target will not be missed. Pictures of this message, translated from Persian, spread rapidly online through several media reports and were also shown on Iran’s state television. This broadcast came after Trump’s repeated warnings.
