T20 World Cup: West Indies player made ‘world record’ in T20 World Cup, no one in the world could do this

In the T20 World Cup 2026, West Indies defeated Italy by 42 runs in the last match of the group stage. Fast bowler Shamar Joseph gave a historic performance in this match and did something which no one has done till date in men’s or women’s cricket. Shai Hope was elected the best player of this match, who played a brilliant inning of 75 runs in 46 balls.

The captain played a stormy innings

In this match played at Eden Gardens, Italy won the toss and decided to bowl first. West Indies had lost 2 wickets at the score of 31, after which captain Shai Hope along with Roston Chase took over the innings and made a partnership of 64 runs. Chase was out after scoring 24 runs. Hope scored 75 runs in 46 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 6 fours.

Sherfane Rutherford scored unbeaten 24 runs in 15 balls and Matthew Ford scored unbeaten 18 runs in 8 balls, taking West Indies to 165. Chasing the target, the Italian team collapsed to 123. Joseph took maximum 4 wickets and created history.

Shamar Joseph took 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs, he dismissed Thomas Draka and Ali Hasan in the 18th over. Earlier, he had dismissed Italy captain Harry John and Grant Stewart. Apart from this, he also took 4 catches. He has become the only cricketer in men’s or women’s cricket to take 4 wickets and hold 4 catches in a match.

West Indies is in Group 1 with India

The West Indies cricket team looked brilliant in the group stage, winning all four of its matches and securing the first position in the points table. Now the team will face India, South Africa and Zimbabwe in Super-8. West Indies’ first match in Super-8 is against Zimbabwe on 23 February.
