This incident has created a stir in the entire area. Police have arrested the accused Mr. Deepdarshan in this case and recovered 63 pounds of gold jewelery from him, while his associate Jayshree is still absconding.
This matter came to light when 67-year-old businessman Bujangaram, resident of the area, lodged a complaint with the police that 70 pounds of gold jewelery had gone missing from the locker of his house. After receiving the complaint, the police registered the case and started investigation. When the police searched his house, no signs of forced entry or theft were found anywhere. After this, the police expressed apprehension that someone known to the family might have a role in this incident.
Young man grabbed 70 pounds of jewelery in the name of Pooja
During the investigation, Bujangaram’s 29-year-old daughter Aishwarya was interrogated. The police got an important clue from his information. Aishwarya told that through her close friend Jayashree, she was introduced to a young man named Mr. Deepdarshan. Deepdarshan described himself as a worshiper and scared Aishwarya by saying that her house was haunted by evil spirits.
It is alleged that Deepdarshan took Aishwarya into confidence and said that to ward off evil powers, a special puja would have to be performed and for this, gold jewelery would be required. In the last three months, he gradually kept taking jewelery from home and depositing it with himself in the name of Pooja. Similarly, 70 pounds of gold jewelery kept in the house came into his hands.
Accused arrested, 63 pounds of jewelry recovered
After technical investigation and interrogation, the police arrested the accused Mr. Deepdarshan. Arumbakkam Arrested from the area. He has been produced in the court and sent to jail. 63 pounds of gold jewelery has been recovered from him. Police said that his associate Jayashree is currently absconding and the search for her is going on.
Police officials say that in recent times such cases have increased, where fake babas or priests are duping people under mental stress in the name of evil spirits, worship and astrology. Many people have also expressed concern on social media that innocent people are losing their savings and jewelery by falling prey to spiritual matters.
