Tariq Rahman’s party BNP registered a bumper victory in Bangladesh, congratulations arrived from India, PM Modi said – ‘Together…’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated party leader Tariq Rahman on the big victory of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the parliamentary elections held in Bangladesh. PM Modi said in his message that this victory shows the trust of the people of Bangladesh on the leadership of Tariq Rahman.

PM Modi said that India will always stand in support of a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh. He also said that he looks forward to working together with Tariq Rahman to further strengthen the relations between India and Bangladesh and advance the common development goals of both the countries.

BNP achieved victory
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Tariq Rahman has claimed victory in the 13th parliamentary elections. Tariq Rehman is the son of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He formally took charge of the party on January 9, some time after his mother’s death.

This election is considered important
National elections were held for the first time in Bangladesh on 12 February after the big 2024 movement. It is being considered very important for the politics of the country. These elections were conducted under the supervision of Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government. This time people voted in two ways. One vote to elect a new parliament and the second vote to give its opinion on the changes to the constitution, i.e. the July Charter.

Sheikh Hasina called the elections a sham
Tariq Rahman contested elections from two seats and won both the seats, Dhaka 17 and Bogura 6. On the other hand, Awami League was not allowed to participate in this election. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently out of the country, has called this election just a sham.
