Taking an important and relief decision regarding the board examinations to be held in the state, the Telangana government has announced a grace period of 5 minutes for the students. This decision will be applicable for Intermediate examinations starting from February 25 and SSC examinations to be held from March 14, in which a total of more than 14.7 lakh students will participate. The governing authority has not only provided flexibility to the students but has also made strict security arrangements to make the examinations free from cheating and irregularities.
According to departmental officials, this time the examination will be conducted on an unprecedented scale, in which 4.89 lakh first year Inter and 4.53 lakh second year students will appear for the paper, while 5.28 lakh candidates will appear in the SSC exam. For the convenience of students, hall tickets will now be sent directly to their mobile through WhatsApp, and can also be downloaded online. Keeping in mind the problems of the students, complete arrangements for benches, clock rooms and medical assistance have been made at the examination centers so that any emergency situation can be dealt with.

The administration has not shown any negligence in the matter of security. To make the examination completely transparent, QR code has been placed in all the question papers and they will be opened just 15 minutes before the start of the examination. Along with CCTV surveillance and police arrangements, flying squads have also been deployed at the centers so that no unwanted element can disrupt the examination process. Officials have made it clear that strict action will be taken against any element encouraging copying.

This time the administration is more alert than ever in view of the irregularities and incidents of cheating that have taken place during the examinations in the state in the last few years. This decision of giving grace period is a matter of relief for all those students who sometimes reach with slight delay due to traffic or other essential reasons. This step is a positive initiative towards reducing the mental pressure of students and making the examination system more humane.
