Saturday (January 17, 2026) morning brought an indelible sorrow for Suryapet district of Telangana. When teachers were returning to schools with new enthusiasm after Sankranti holidays, a horrific road accident changed happiness into mourning. An uncontrolled car overturned several times on the roadside due to speeding near Arvapalli (Tungaturthi constituency). In this tragic accident, two of the five teachers traveling in the car died on the spot, while three others are struggling between life and death.
This tragic incident happened on Saturday morning when the teachers had left from Nalgonda for their duty in various schools of Suryapet district. According to initial information, the speed of the car was very high, due to which the driver suddenly lost control near Arvapalli. Eyewitnesses say that the car went down the road and overturned three-four times, due to which the vehicle was blown to pieces.
Sister dies in accident, brother seriously injured
In this accident, ASO Kalpana and another teacher of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) died on the spot. The heartbreaking thing is that Tungaturthi GHM Praveen Kumar, who is among the injured teachers, is the brother of deceased Kalpana, who saw his sister dying in front of his eyes.
The injured were referred for treatment.
The other three teachers in the car, Sunita Rani (Annaram GHM), Tulsi (Ravulapalli GHM) and Praveen, suffered serious injuries. With the help of local people and police, he was immediately admitted to the government hospital in Suryapet through 108 ambulance. According to doctors, the condition of the injured remains critical and consideration is being given to referring them to Hyderabad for better treatment.
District Superintendent of Police gave information regarding the accident
As soon as information about the accident was received, the District Superintendent of Police (SP) and other senior officers inspected the spot. In the preliminary investigation of the police, the main cause of the accident is believed to be over-speeding and possibly sudden tire burst. Officials said that some people in the car were not wearing seat belts, which made the injuries more fatal.
