Karnataka News: A heart-wrenching case of superstition and over-confidence in astrology has come to light in Tumkuru district of Karnataka state. Here a woman named Suchitra killed her own mother Pushpavati by believing the words of an astrologer who held her mother responsible for her father’s death. The police have arrested the accused woman and started interrogation.
According to the police, Suchitra’s father died suddenly one and a half years ago. Unable to accept this incident, she became mentally disturbed. Recently she came in contact with an astrologer and inquired about the reason for her father’s death. The astrologer claimed that Suchitra’s mother had practiced witchcraft, which led to her father’s death.
Mother murdered by placing a pillow on her face
Considering this to be true, Suchitra became very angry. She went straight to her mother Pushpavati’s house. At that time Pushpavati was in deep sleep. In anger and confusion, Suchitra took a pillow and placed it on her mother’s face and killed her by suffocating her.
After the murder, Suchitra tried to convince the family members that her mother had died of natural causes. He immediately started preparing for the last rites, so that no one would have any doubt. Relatives and neighbors reached the house to pay homage to the dead body, but some locals found the circumstances suspicious.
Suchitra confessed to the crime during interrogation
After this he immediately informed the police. Before the funeral, the police reached the spot and interrogated Suchitra and other family members strictly. During interrogation, Suchitra changed her statement and admitted that she had murdered her mother.
The police have arrested the accused woman and are also investigating the role of the astrologer who had made this provocative claim to Suchitra. The police is also investigating whether Suchitra’s husband had any involvement in this entire matter or not. At present the investigation is going on and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
