The Hundred: After the uproar over Pakistani players, MI team made a big announcement, said- ‘Not out on the basis of nationality…’

An auction for the upcoming edition of The Hundred tournament may take place in March. Earlier in this league, franchises used to make players a part of their team through draft. There is a lot of discussion about a report regarding the auction that is going to be held for the first time. It was claimed that the franchises whose owners are Indians will not buy Pakistani players in the auction. No matter what their performance is. It went so viral that the MI London team had to issue a statement.

MI London issued statement

MI London, the franchise associated with Mumbai Indians, rejected these claims and assured that the players will not be discriminated on the basis of nationality. MI London said in a statement released on Tuesday, “MI London is committed to ensuring that The Hundred is a competition that is inclusive, welcoming and open to all.”

The statement further said, “Players should not be excluded on the basis of their nationality. Along with the remaining seven teams, we are committed to making selections based solely on their cricketing performance, availability and the needs of each team.”

Let us tell you that earlier the England Cricket Board had also written a letter related to this to all the franchises, in which it had advised them not to discriminate against the players on the basis of nationality. ECB had also issued a statement on this and assured that all the players in the league will get equal opportunities.

The ECB said in a joint statement with all eight teams of ‘The Hundred’, “The ECB and all eight franchises of The Hundred team have reiterated their commitment to ensure that The Hundred remains a competition that is inclusive, welcoming and open to all.”
