A tragic road accident in Nirmal district of Telangana turned the occasion of joy into mourning. A vehicle full of passengers going to a wedding suddenly overturned on National Highway-44 near Burugupalli of Mamda Mandal. Due to tire burst, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle overturned on the road. A total of 22 people were injured in this horrific accident, out of which two were seriously injured and died during treatment.
According to the information, all the passengers are residents of Sonpalli village of Sirikonda mandal of Adilabad district. All these people were going to attend a relative’s wedding in Armur in Nizamabad district. The same family which had gone out to celebrate the wedding a few hours ago is now forced to return home carrying the dead bodies of their loved ones. The silence spread in the entire village is telling the horror of this accident.
Police and eyewitnesses took the injured to the hospital
As soon as information about the accident was received, police and local people reached the spot and immediately took the injured to Nirmal District Government Hospital. The two people whose condition was extremely critical were referred to RIMS Hospital in Adilabad district for better treatment, where both of them died during treatment, while the treatment of all the other injured is going on.
Nirmal police appealed to the people
Nirmal police have registered a case and started investigation. Police said that the technical condition of the vehicle and the exact cause of the accident are being investigated. Police has appealed to the citizens to get their vehicles regularly checked while traveling on NH-44, follow the prescribed speed limit and strictly avoid overloading.
This accident once again reminds us how deadly the Nirmal-Adilabad stretch of NH-44 is. Many major accidents have happened on this road before. Despite this, concrete steps for reform have not been taken yet. Loss of two lives and injury to 20 people is not just an accident, but another painful result of the negligence of the system.
