Makers built 2.5 acre slum set for ‘Aaya Sher’
One of the most special setups is the ‘Hero House’ (Kaman Set), a huge structure 60 feet wide, 45 feet high and 25 feet deep, which was specially built for the hero’s powerful dip scene. Initially it was made 30 feet wide, but later its width was increased by 15 feet on both sides to 60 feet. About 25 workers worked hard for about 20 days to prepare this huge structure, and a special ‘aging’ technique was used to make it look realistic with the surrounding environment.
Another unique thing seen in the song is the structure like a big bowl of biryani. It has been given copper finish and old look so that it looks absolutely original and desi. This setup of 10 feet width, 20 feet radius and 6 feet height was prepared by a team of 5-7 people in just five days.
To increase the scale of production, a ‘water body village set’ spread over 2.5 acres was built, in which 60 real houses were built instead of dummy structures. About 50 workers worked hard for 30 days to build this village, which was designed in such a way that about 500 people could come together in it. To create the water scene, 100 tankers of water were ordered, which took seven days to fill. Additionally, a separate pond 20 feet deep was also built to store water.
The production also built a huge ‘dump yard’ set, which was 120 feet long, 50 feet wide and 30 feet high. A team of 25 people built it with 30 days of hard work, the aim of which was to give a ‘rustic’ and old look like a real dump yard.
The biggest feature of these sets is that they were made without harming the natural environment. The art department carefully integrated these structures with the land and landscape. Natural textures and ‘aging’ techniques were used extensively to show the realism.
Every setup was planned very minutely so that the work could be completed without any interruption and in a creative manner. The final construction was done only after taking all the necessary approvals.
