Amidst the war in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has threatened that he can destroy Iran whenever he wants. Trump said that after the current military action, there is nothing left for America to target in Iran. Israeli and US officials say they are preparing to continue attacks in Iran for at least two more weeks.
War in Iran now small matters: Trump
Donald Trump said in an interview to Axios on Wednesday (11 March 2026), ‘Wars in Iran are small things now. Whenever I want, this war will end. Although Trump has publicly indicated that he has largely achieved his objectives in this campaign, US and Israeli officials say that no internal instructions have been given about when the fighting will stop.
Iran will not be able to escape so easily: Trump
Regarding Iran, Trump said, ‘They wanted to capture the rest of the Middle East. They are now suffering the consequences of the death and destruction they caused in 47 years. This has changed. They will not be able to escape so easily. Iran has blamed the US for disruptions in the transportation of crude oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, amid huge fluctuations in energy prices due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Iran’s Foreign Minister spoke to the UN Secretary General
Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi spoke on phone with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He elaborated on various aspects of the offensive and US-Israeli war crimes, emphasizing that during these attacks, civilian targets, including schools, hospitals, and residential areas, as well as buildings and historical monuments, were targeted.
Guterres also noted the need for efforts to prevent the spread of conflict in the region and reduce its humanitarian and security consequences. The UN report described the Secretary-General’s telephone call with Araghchi, in which they discussed the ongoing military increase in the region.
