Now you do not even need to touch the screen of your device for web browsing. Perplexity has upgraded its AI browser Comet with voice mode. Now the user will get full hands-free control and will be able to operate this browser just by speaking. Announcing this, the company’s CEO Arvind Srinivas said that this is happening for the first time when users will be able to fully control the browser without touching the screen.
What will be available in voice mode?
Srinivas said that with the upgraded voice mode, users will be able to browse, search and interact with web content only by speaking. This means that now you will not have to use your hands for other tasks like opening websites, switching tabs, scrolling pages etc. You will be able to do all these things through voice commands. The company said that this feature has been built on the real-time model of OpenAI.
When will this feature come?
Srinivas has confirmed that the voice mode upgrade will come on Comet iOS in the next few days. However, it is not known whether it will be launched on desktop version along with iPhone or users will have to wait for it.
The ongoing trend of AI browser
After the advent of AI, the era of traditional search is almost over. While OpenAI launched the Atlas AI browser, Perplexity launched Comet. Companies like Google are also now focusing on AI search. The company has also made many such additions to its Chrome browser so that users can take advantage of AI features. Now Google also shows AI summary instead of showing direct link when searching so that users do not have to go to different web pages to get the necessary information.
