Abhijeet Sawant became a national sensation by winning ‘Indian Idol 1’ in 2004. At the same time, when his fans were celebrating his big victory, Abhijeet Sawant was very scared. The singer has revealed this shocking thing in a recent interview and has also given the main reason for it.
After winning Indian Idol 1 Why was Abhijeet Sawant scared?,
Actually, during the interview given to Gaana, Abhijeet Sawant said that after winning Indian Idol 1, he was scared because he felt that some music label would trap him in a long contract, which would ruin his career. He said, “It’s been more than 20 years, but as far as I remember, I was confident of winning the show. Also, there was a little bit of nervousness about the future, it was not like Bigg Boss, where you don’t know the outside world. I could literally see people going crazy and girls going crazy over me. You come from a small community, till six months ago you used to drink tea in a corner every day, and now suddenly the whole country is watching you.”
The singer further said, “We had no idea what would come in our hands after the show. Today’s generation is more confident, but we were suspicious of the intentions of every person who gave us a lot of money, we felt that they were cheating us. Even when I was about to get a contract before winning, many people in our family said that I should not sign anything or the contract of any album. I was afraid that he might be someone. Don’t make such a contract in which I will get trapped, ruin my future… and they will keep me in custody.”
Everything changed after winning the show
Abhijeet Sawant further said, “After winning the show, everything changed. I was not able to go home, after returning from the show, there were always so many people around the house who came to meet me. Many of my friends tell me that very few people have seen this kind of madness. At that time I used to think that they will make me sign a contract for 5-10 years, then I will be stuck, the best years of my life will pass and they will leave me. But it did not happen. I was 5-6 years old. Been associated with Sony for years, with good relations companies can take you to higher positions.”
Abhijeet Sawant gained immense popularity with hit songs like ‘Mohabbatein Lutaunga’, ‘Mar Jaawaan Mit Jaawaan’ (Aashiq Banaya Aapne) and ‘Happy Ending’ (Tees Maar Khan).
