After foldable phones, competition has started increasing in the trifold phone segment. Chinese company Huawei was the first to launch the trifold phone. After the Chinese company, Samsung also entered this segment and launched its first trifold phone in late 2025. Now Oppo has told that it had also prepared several prototypes of trifold phones, but did not launch them.

Despite the technology being ready, Oppo is in no mood to launch a trifold phone. Oppo’s product management confirmed this and said that the company had prepared several prototypes of the tri-fold phone.
Why is Oppo not launching tri-fold phone?
Tri-fold phone may seem like a cool gadget, but making and selling such a phone is quite difficult. These devices cost a lot, due to which their prices start skyrocketing and it becomes difficult to find customers. It becomes very difficult for even the biggest companies to earn money from such phones. In such a situation, it could have been challenging for Oppo to launch such an expensive device. According to a report some time ago, Samsung is selling its tri-fold phone at a loss and is not even able to cover its cost.
Will Oppo not launch a tri-fold phone?
According to media reports, Oppo has not completely separated itself from the tri-fold phone segment. The company has overcome technical challenges by preparing the prototype. Looking at the segment, Oppo is currently waiting for the manufacturing cost to reduce and consumer demand to become stable.
