Akbaruddin Owaisi said while giving a sharp statement in the assembly
AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi said, ‘Whoever is an urban citizen of this country and is eligible to vote, his rights should not be taken away. We are not saying that any Pakistani or Bangladeshi should be given the right to vote, but removing the name of an Indian citizen from the list will not be tolerated.
In his address, Owaisi, citing an old investigation conducted in Bihar, said that not a single Muslim was found there who was of foreign origin. Terming it as political propaganda, he said that it is wrong to spread hatred in the name of Hindu-Muslim and question the citizenship of people.
Complete transparency should be maintained during SIR of voter list – Owaisi
He said in a sharp tone, ‘This country belongs to everyone. It is of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Parsis and also of those who do not believe in any God. No one is the only contractor in this country. This country is not someone’s father’s property to run as he wants.
Owaisi urged the Telangana government and concerned authorities to maintain complete transparency during the voter list revision (SIR). He emphasized that Muslims were, are and will always be an integral part of this country. Questioning their loyalty is not only unconstitutional but also against the unity of the country.
