WhatsApp is preparing to bring a powerful feature like Instagram for its users. The company is working on Close Friends feature. The advantage of this will be that the user’s status will not be visible to all his contacts and for this he will not have to constantly change his privacy settings. In Close Friends, the user will be able to select those people with whom he wants to share the status. Let us tell you that this feature is already available on Instagram and here users can share their stories with close friends.
How will this feature work?
Close Friends option has been spotted for the first time in the Android beta version of WhatsApp. After its rollout, users will be able to create a list of their close friends. After this, whenever users post a status, they will be able to choose to share it with the listed contacts. Close friends list can be managed while setting status privacy or updating status.
The list will not be permanent
There will be another special thing about the close friends list. This will not be permanent and you will be able to edit it as per your wish. That means you will be able to add and remove contacts as per your need. Apart from this, when you share status with close friends, they will see a different colored ring around your profile photo. This will make them understand that this status has been shared with close friends and not everyone can see it.
Work is also going on on custom contact list
Apart from the close friend feature, WhatsApp is working on another privacy related change. The company can also bring custom contact list for status updates. In this, users will be able to create multiple groups with different names and emoji. For example, the user will be able to create a list with the names of family, office, game and gym etc. and share the status with them. With this, he will not have to add people to his close friends again and again.
