‘This society has only given to the country for centuries’, Amit Shah said in the All India Maheshwari Mahasabha session

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the convention of All India Maheshwari Mahasabha on Saturday (January 10, 2026), openly praised the contribution of Maheshwari community. Expressing gratitude to the people of the society, he said that today I am standing in front of a society which has worked to give to this country not only today but for centuries.

Amit Shah said that the gems emanating from Maheshwari community have made India shine like a person adorned with jewellery. Despite holding big positions in the country and abroad, and being associated with huge industries and businesses, the Maheshwari community has remained connected to its roots. He said that this is perhaps the only society which has never separated from its origins.

Giving a historical example at the All India Maheshwari Mahasabha convention held in Jodhpur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘When there were wars against the Mughals, the Maheshwari community took the responsibility of the treasures of the kings and maharajas. Maheshwari community also played an important role in bearing the entire expenses of Mahatma Gandhi’s movements in the freedom struggle against the British, even though no written account of this is available, but the whole world knows about this contribution.

He said, ‘After independence, Maheshwari community has played a leading role in every field of making the country self-reliant, promoting industries, production, trade, technology and manufacturing.’

Marwaris reach there first, train later: Shah

Referring to a famous saying of Gujarat, Amit Shah said that the train reaches where Bajrang Lal ji could not, this saying suits the people of Marwar. He said that Maheshwari Samaj has worked to keep Rajasthan, India and Indian culture alive.

Referring to the criticism on social events, he said that he believes that the protection of societies and such Mahakumbh strengthens India. If every society takes the responsibility of the poorest person in its society, then the whole of India can become self-reliant.

Mention of release of postage stamp on completion of 135 years

Amit Shah said, ‘On completion of 135 years of Maheshwari Samaj, a postal stamp has been issued by the Government of India. He described the society’s tradition of providing dignified life, housing and opportunities to the needy as a reflection of the DNA of the society.

Union Home Minister emphasizes on self-reliant India, Swadeshi and language

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve for a self-reliant India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that along with production, manufacturing of those items will also have to be started which are not currently made in India. Calling for adopting Swadeshi, he said that using and trading goods made in one’s own country is the backbone of self-reliance.

Regarding language, he urged the youth to learn as many languages ​​as they want for the global platform, but at home they must talk to their children in Marwari and Hindi, because only language takes culture and history forward.

Mentioned about India’s growing economic power

Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has moved from the 11th economy to the fourth position and will soon become the third largest economy in the world. Referring to India’s achievements in the field of digital transactions, startups, pharmaceutical production, automobile and manufacturing, he called upon the youth to move forward.

Ram Mandir and contribution to cultural renaissance

Referring to the construction of Ram temple, he said that after 550 years of struggle, Lord Shri Ram was seated in the grand temple. People from Maheshwari community were among the first writers to write on Ram Janmabhoomi after independence, which shows the cultural contribution of the society.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s appeal to the youth

At the end of his address, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Maheshwari society is such a society in whose hands both the sword and the scales look good. He called upon the youth to stay organized and use their energy towards the glory of Mother India and building a self-reliant India.
