Those watching movies at home got a ‘shock’ of 56 days, know the new rule of OTT release

Do you like South movies? Do you like to watch movies only on OTT? If so, then you are going to get a big shock after reading this news. Because OTT has made some changes in its rules. After which the fun of those watching newly released movies on OTT is going to be a bit sour. Because now films on OTT will be released only after 8 weeks.

What is the new OTT rule?
Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has taken a big step with the aim of protecting the business of theatres. According to which now you will have to wait for 8 weeks for all Telugu films. The proposal was discussed at a high-level Executive Committee (EC) meeting held recently, where members expressed concern over the declining business in theaters of films due to digital premieres. If this rule is implemented, it will mean that no Telugu film will be able to stream on any OTT platform for at least 56 days after its theatrical release.

Decision for the return of spectators to theaters
This decision has been taken in view of the decreasing business in theaters and decreasing crowd of people. These experts believe that by doing this, crowds of people can be seen in theaters once again. Due to this, the business of cinema halls will also not come to a halt. Till now, after the release of the film, people used to watch films only on OTT instead of going to theatres.

Example given from ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’
Talking about this rule, the Film Chamber has given the example of immense success of two big films. Only a few films like Prabhas’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ had decided to release OTT in all languages at the scheduled time of 8 weeks, due to which these films have benefited a lot in theatres. The continuous box office collection of these films for several weeks has proved to the film industry that even a delay in digital release can increase the total theatrical earnings of the film.

What were the first rules?
Earlier, Telugu films were released on OTT just a month after their release. Due to this, people did not go to theaters to watch movies and thought that in a month they will be able to watch the movie for free at home. Keeping this in mind this decision has been taken.
