‘Thousands of youth have left the path of violence…’, after reaching Guwahati, PM Modi said about the Bodo peace agreement of 2020, took a jibe at Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday (January 17) that Congress never considered Assam as its own. He made big allegations against Congress. PM Modi said that Congress people like foreign infiltrators more, because they come here and become the staunch vote bank of Congress. He said that therefore, during the Congress rule, foreign infiltrators kept coming and occupying lakhs of bighas of land in Assam and the Congress government kept helping them.

Prime Minister Modi said, ‘I am getting emotional thinking how much my Assam is progressing. Once upon a time, where there was bloodshed every day, today the same place is adorned with wonderful colors of culture. Where once there was the echo of bullets, today there is the sweet sound of Kham and Siphung. Where earlier there was silence due to curfew, today the sounds of music are resonating there.

He said, ‘Where earlier there was unrest and instability, today such presentations of Bagurumba are going to take place. This achievement is not just of Assam, but of entire India. Every countryman is proud of this change in Assam.

What did PM say about Bodo peace agreement?

PM Modi said, ‘The Bodo Peace Agreement of 2020 put an end to the years-long conflict. After this agreement, confidence returned and thousands of youth left the path of violence and adopted the mainstream. Talented Bodo youth are today becoming cultural ambassadors of Assam. In the field of sports also, the sons and daughters of Bodo community are making a name for themselves.

Prime Minister Modi targeted Congress

Taking a jibe at the Congress, he said, ‘When we respect the art, culture and identity of Assam, there are some people who feel hurt. Which party’s people do not like the respect of Assam? Congress Party. Which is the party which opposed giving Bharat Ratna to Bhupen Hazarika ji, Congress Party. Which party had opposed the semiconductor unit in Assam, the Karnataka government minister of Congress.

Prime Minister Modi said, ‘India’s growth story is getting new strength from Assam’s confidence, Assam’s strength and Assam’s progress. Today Assam is making its mark among the fast progressing states. The economy of Assam is gaining momentum. Bodoland and its people are playing an important role in this development and this change.
