There was a stir in the Meteorological Department located in Begumpet, Hyderabad, when a threatening e-mail was received around 9 am on Friday morning. In which it was claimed that 14 bombs have been planted in the office premises which can explode by noon. As soon as this information was received, the officials immediately informed the police and high alert was declared in the entire campus.
Meteorological Department official Srinivas said that when the e-mail was checked in the morning, it was clearly written in it, “Bomb threat to Begumpet Weather Office. Unknown persons sent an email claiming that 14 bombs have been planted and they will explode by afternoon.” Taking this message seriously, security agencies were immediately alerted.

As soon as the information was received, police teams along with Bomb Squad and Dog Squad reached the spot and started intensive search of the entire office complex. The bomb squad first checked the main building. With the help of state-of-the-art equipment, every room, corridor and surrounding areas were examined in detail.
During the search operation, security agencies advised the employees and other people present on the premises to exercise caution. For some time, movement in some parts of the office was also limited so that the investigation process could be completed without any hindrance.
No suspicious objects found
According to police officials, no suspicious object has been recovered at present, but taking the threat seriously, investigation is ongoing. The cyber crime team has also been alerted and now efforts are being made to trace the source and IP address of the e-mail so that the person or group making the threat can be identified.
At present, police and bomb squad teams are present on the spot and are thoroughly investigating the entire area. Officials say that no possibility will be ignored from security point of view and the situation will be declared completely normal only after the investigation is completed.
