Till now, so many countries of the world have given the highest civilian honor to PM Modi, he became the first Prime Minister to do so.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Oman. He was awarded the Order of Oman, the highest honor there. This award has previously been given to Queen Elizabeth, Queen Maxima, Emperor Akihito, Nelson Mandela and King Abdullah of Jordan.

Which countries honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

This year, PM Modi was honored with the highest honor in Namibia, Brazil, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Barbados and Ethiopia. Namibian President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa honored PM Modi with Namibia’s highest civilian honor Order of the Most Ancient Velvichia Mirabilis in July.

Brazil awarded him with the highest civilian honor

Indian Prime Minister Modi was awarded the highest civilian honor Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross by Brazilian President Lula da Silva on July 7. On July 4, PM Modi was awarded the highest national award, the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, by the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo ORTT.

Ghana awarded highest civilian honor

Apart from this, on July 2, PM Modi was awarded Ghana’s highest civilian honour, Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana. The President of Cyprus, His Excellency Nicos Christodoulides, on June 16 awarded India’s PM Modi the highest civilian award, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III.

Sri Lanka honored with Mitra Vibhushan Award

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka honored Prime Minister Modi with the Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Award on 5 April. This is the country’s highest honor given to foreign leaders. For the first time an Indian leader received this award. On March 12, PM Modi was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (GCSK), Mauritius’s highest civilian honour. For the first time an Indian leader was awarded this honour.

Ethiopia awarded highest civilian honor

At the same time, on December 16, PM Modi was awarded Ethiopia’s highest civilian honour, The Great Honor Mark of Ethiopia. Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley had announced to confer the Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados on PM Modi on November 20, 2024, which was received by Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita in March 2025.
