Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief Maulana Arshad Madani said that education is necessary to counter the misconceptions allegedly being spread by communal elements against Muslims. According to a statement issued by the organization on Monday (15 December 2025), Madani said that just as the minority community needs Muftis and Hafiz, in the same way it also needs doctors, engineers etc.
‘Muftis’ are experts in Islamic law and have the authority to issue fatwas on religious questions, while Hafiz are those who know the Quran by heart. He claimed that the kind of religious and ideological battle that has now started in the entire country can be countered by equipping the new generation with higher education.
‘Defeat your opponents in ideological conflict with knowledge’
Maulana Madani said that the new generation should be made capable of defeating the opponents in this ideological struggle with the weapon of their knowledge and achieving those goals, to which our access has been politically limited and made extremely difficult. According to the statement, Madani made these comments after announcing the academic scholarships for the academic session 2025-26 at the central office of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind here.
It is said that Jamiat and M.H.A. Madani Charitable Trust, Deoband has been providing scholarship to poor students selected on the basis of merit since 2012, under which scholarship is given to economically weaker students studying in technical and professional programs who have secured minimum 75% marks in the previous year’s examination.
Maulana Madani’s appeal to Muslims
Maulana Madani, while requesting prosperous Muslims to open schools and colleges, said that efforts should be made to make such educational institutions ideal institutions, so that non-Muslim parents also give priority to educating their children in them. He said that this will not only increase mutual understanding and brotherhood, but will also end the misconceptions that communal elements are systematically spreading against Muslims.
