Another heart-wrenching incident came to light on Wednesday in the hostel of the prestigious Basara Triple IT (IIIT) located in Nirmal district of Telangana, where Vasantha, a third year student of E1 category (Engineering first year) committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room. This student, resident of Wanaparthi district, took this step when other students of the hostel had gone to their classes.
This incident came to light when he was found unconscious. The management immediately took him to Bhainsa Area Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead, but allegations are being made that the institute administration initially tried to hide the incident.
Took a step while staying in the room during class
According to the information received, when Vasantha decided to stay in the hostel room instead of going to class with her classmates, no one got suspicious. He committed suicide by hanging himself inside the room. When people’s attention came towards this, the management became active and took him to the hospital in the name of treatment, but by then it was too late. Sources say that the management wanted to prevent this incident from going outside the campus, but the news of the student’s death soon spread like wildfire. Taking the matter seriously, the police have sent the body for post-mortem and informed the family of the student. There is an uproar in Vasantha’s family and they reach the spot.
Such incidents have happened in the institute before also.
This incident once again sharpens the discussion on Basara IIT, as it is a long series of suicides by students in this institute. In the last few years, many students have sacrificed their lives here, due to which serious questions are being raised on the educational system and mental health here.
