‘Tribal society is the core of our religion’, Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said in tribal dialogue in Ranchi.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat reached Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi on Saturday (January 24, 2026), where he interacted directly with the people of the tribal community. During this, he said that those who are called tribals today, are the roots of our religion.

Mohan Bhagwat said that unity in diversity is inherent in our ancestors. There can be countless forms of worship and each is worthy of respect. Accept and respect all forms of worship, believing that they are all valid. Worship in your own way. Also respect the ways of worship of others, accept them and move forward together in harmony. This is the natural essence of our country. You should know that the essence of religion is connected with nature.

When was there a puja in our country?- Bhagwat

In the program organized at Ranchi’s Carnival Banquet Hall, Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said, ‘Earlier our ancestors used to live in forests and ashrams. Used to do farming and lived on the basis of forest. The feeling he felt at that time is the Upanishad. Tribal people follow their thoughts. Now some people say that these people are not Hindus because their worship is different, then when was there a worship in our country?

He said, ‘It is written in the oldest Vedas and there is a meaning in the Vedas: People speaking many languages and following many religions live on Mother Earth. Just as a cow gives milk to everyone from many streams, provide them shelter in the same way.

The unity with which we started continues till today – Bhagwat

With this, Mohan Bhagwat said, ‘Many developments have taken place in this long period of time and naturally with the passage of time higher levels of thought and culture have evolved. Yet, the unity with which we started continues to this day. This is our history. How did what we now call Hinduism or Hinduism begin? The name Hindu came much later and the concept of religion evolved with time. If we try to trace the origin of Sanatan Dharma, we find that its roots lie in the forests and agricultural practices of our country.

He said, ‘This means that those who are called tribals today are the origin of our religion. If you want to find the origin of the Vedas, you will have to go there. Today’s tribal society has no religion, this is wrong. Religion means worship, so worship has been going on since before. The idea behind puja has been going on since then. If we research it, we will get all this from the Upanishads.
