US President Donald Trump said on Monday (December 22) that the reputations of innocent people who met Jeffrey Epstein in the past are also in danger of being ruined by the release of investigation files related to the sex offender. The US Justice Department has started releasing files from Friday. In his first comment regarding this, Trump described this issue as a distraction from the achievements of his party.
Donald Trump told reporters, ‘This whole issue related to Epstein is a way to divert attention from the tremendous success of the Republican Party.’ Former President Bill Clinton appeared prominently in the first batch of photos related to the Epstein cases released by the Justice Department, and Trump was asked for his reaction to them.
‘Saddened by the release of Bill Clinton’s pictures’
Trump said, ‘I like Bill Clinton. I have always had good relations with him. I find it sad to see his pictures coming out. He further said that I also have pictures. Everyone was friendly with this guy (Epstein). Trump objected to the release of photos of Clinton and others and called it a terrible thing. He said that Bill Clinton is a big man, he can handle it.
‘Innocent people also trapped’
Regarding the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the US President said that you probably also have photographs of other people who innocently met Jeffrey Epstein many years ago and they are highly respected bankers, lawyers and other people. Many people are extremely angry that photographs are being released of people who actually had nothing to do with Epstein.
He said that those people were in the picture with him because he was in a party and this tarnishes one’s reputation. Epstein, a wealthy and influential financier, died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, which was ruled a suicide.
